Kinstedt House

Nehalem, Oregon • 2012

The Kinstedts love the iconic foursquare layout of many of the houses they lived in and around during their time in Portland. When they had the opportunuty to realize their dream and move to the Oregon coast, they brought that love with them. We designed this house to reference many of the aesthetic details of the foursquare, while accommodating a floorplan more relevant to rural living such as a generous foyer, large kitchen, and attached solarium. Located on a rise with sweeping views of a 120-acre family farm, this house features a custom masonry fireplace, passive solar heating in the living room, and radiant floors.
